The brake light comes on but no leak in the garage. I have put brake fluid in and the light goes off. I've done this a couple of times. Should I take into the BMW dealership? I found out without taking the car in that if you run the car low on gas the check engine light will come on. Eventually, it will go off. Any help would be appreciated.

Wed, June 14, 2006 - 12:04 PMMy brake light on my 2002 would come on when it was low. If you keep putting fluid in, you have a leak. Another thing that makes fluid go down is normal brake usage. As the pads wear down, they extend farther and the brake lines fill up more with fluid (draining it from the resivoir).
If you have filled it and the light went off then came back on, you should take it to a service center or brake place. Unless you want to fix it your self. Call break centers and ask if they give free estimates, most of them do.

Wed, June 28, 2006 - 7:21 PMIf the fluid keeps dissappearing, you have a leak. A leak can even be between a main brake syllinder and vacuum buster (if you have one). Or your brake pads are worn, but not too much, because the system would let you know if they too low.
